"A comic fantasy of life, love and death of infamous Baron Munhgauzen who used to live in XVIII century and who's featured in many amusing books and legends". The film is not a screen version of the famous novel of R. E. Raspe but an absolutely original work of art created by our talented contemporaries. "A thinking man simply must drag himself up by his own hair every once in a while", and the authors of this film seem to be succeeding in it. Baron (O. Yankovsky) wants to marry his beloved Martha (E. Koreneva), but the Church doesn't grant him a permission since his wife (I. Churikova) who "managed to pacify him for 20 years" is still living. Tired Martha wants him to live like everybody else, but baron doesn't want to, and is unable to, do it. The Duke (L. Bronevoi) will permit the marriage only if Baron will give him a written certification that all of his stories are lies and that he's just an ordinary man...
